David,
No, you've never heard from me before! I apologize for jumping into the middle of things. I probably sounded rather informal because I was so excited to make a connection, AND I was in a hurry. Yes, my great-grandfather was George Edward List. He lived with my grandfather's brother Arthur when I was a child.
My father is John Helms List, and my mother is Betty Louise (Ruddy) List. I have one brother Bruce Richard List, who has never married. I'm Nancy Elaine List (Pierce) Pridgen. I have only one child, Robert Nelson Pierce, who has one child, Robert
Nelson Pierce II.I dug out my partly illegible, yellowed, faded papers on my dad's family.
No, I didn't mean Henry was from Rotterdam! I meant our line of Brockuniers. I have John Nicholas Brockunier as Peter Brockunier's father. JNB was born 1704 (I think that's what it says). Sailed from Rotterdam; arrived Philadelphia on ship "Lydia" Sept. 1740? or 45? Oldest child at arrival was John Nicholas Jr., age about 15; other children were Henry, Peter, Jacob. This was given to me by a cousin by marriage, Dorothy List, wife of Arthur List Jr., and it was originally done by another cousin by marriage, Roy Palmer, who is no longer living. He was married to Katherine, the daughter of Robert Nelson List's sister Elizabeth Blackstock List Mellott. Katherine also is no longer living. Katherine was VERY disappointed when Roy came up with Rotterdam; she wanted so badly to have French blood! However, since I wrote, I read something from your page about "French Hugenots." I have to read more!
Both of my grandparents grew up in Sewickley. I spent a day about five summers ago climbing all over their mountain cemetery, looking for RNB's grave. I never found it, but I "know" it's there! His mother, also is buried there.
I'll go back and read everything you have, and I'll figure out what I may have on this faded paper. Let me know if you want more info on the above.
Thanks for your quick response,
Nancy Pridgen, who's beside herself with glee at discovering your page!
