Merritt married 1st Viola Marie Bloodgood circa 1927; married 2nd Alberta Bucar circa 1939; married 3rd Helen Ruth Stanford circa 1980 (Helen born 26 Dec 1911 in Midland, Michigan), no children from Helen. Merritt worked as an Advertising Salesman, & a professional bowler, died of tuberculosis
